Character building from the ground up. Learn how to utilize all the tools of the actor to make a well-rounded character & start on scene work. We’ll explore context, subtext, beats, motivations, ensemble building techniques & much more for young actors looking to expand their skills and knowledge. |

This class will explore the basic techniques of unarmed & armed combat using selected scenes from the Bard’s greatest work. Students will be asked to dress appropriately and memorize selected scenes for performance. *This class will begin on 10/19 and run through 11/23* |

Students will use the elements of drama to explore current social issues of relevance to them. Simliar to the work done to create The Laramie Project, students will choose a topic, conduct community & peer interviews, adapt existing work & ultimately develop an original artistic piece, culminating in a collaborative performance piece. |

She is currently doing a one-year internship at the Steppenwolf Theatre & is an honors graduate of Howard University. |

David Chrzanowski is the Lead Teaching Artist for the Silk Road Theatre Project in Chicago. He has taught every grade level from elementary through high school. He has taught for: Apple Tree Theatre, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare, the Kentucky & Montana Shakespeare Theatre Festivals. He is an actor/director/fight choreographer currently appearing in Court Theatre’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. |

She has worked with Pavement Group, Red Tape, Signal Ensemble, Northlight, Steppenwolf, Greasy Joan & Co. among others. She is directing sweet, half-darkness for her theatre company, Genesis Ensemble. She has a BA in Theatre from Miami University. |

She has taught with Lookingglass Theatre for the past three years, served as the 2009 Artist in residence at the Peggy Notebart Nature Museum & is one of four 2010 LinkUp Artists in Residence at Links Hall. |

Heather Pratt has been a faculty member of the Dallas Children’s Theatre for the past four years, teaching students from kindergarten through high school. She did internships with both Apple Tree Theatre & Reverie Theatre in the Chicago area prior to moving to Dallas. She holds a BFA in Acting from West Virginia University. |
